Wings Sign Megan Gustafson
The Dallas Wings have signed center Megan Gustafson, the team announced today.
"We are excited to bring Megan back to the Dallas Wings organization," Dallas Wings President & CEO Greg Bibb stated. "We are currently dealing with a series of roster challenges and we are fortunate to have the opportunity to sign a player of Megan's character and ability."
In three preseason games for Dallas, the Iowa product averaged 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds a game, playing an average of 11.0 minutes.
"I'm extremely grateful for the opportunity to further pursue my dream of playing in the WNBA," Gustafson said. "I have learned that nothing in this life is guaranteed, but I will take full advantage of this second opportunity with the Dallas Wings whether it is for one day, one week, or 10 years."
The Wings were granted the opportunity to sign Gustafson following a series of events that have depleted the 12-player roster. Tayler Hill will undergo knee surgery within the coming days and will be out indefinitely, Glory Johnson will depart for Eurobasket to compete with Montenegro following the Wings game against Atlanta on Saturday, June 15 and rookie Arike Agunbowale is doubtful for tonight's game against Indiana due to an ankle injury sustained in the team's outing at Washington on June 9.
The loss of Hill, the temporary departure of Johnson and potential absence of Ogunbowale further depletes a Wings side that continues to be without all-star guard Skylar Diggins-Smith, who remains out following the birth of her child, and Moriah Jefferson, who has yet to play this season due to injury.
