Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Corpus Christi lost for the first time in nine games Wednesday night, as the homestanding Missions notched a 9-0 victory before 4,164 fans at Wolff Stadium.
The eight-game winning streak is the longest by the Hooks since they won 11 in a row during the 2016 campaign.
After falling, 5-0, on Tuesday, San Antonio started Game 2 of the series by scoring five times in the first, knocking Angel Macuare from the game.
The Missions added a marker in the second before plating three in the sixth.
Tyler Brown, who blanked SA in the seventh and eighth, and Jacob DeLabio, who dispatched one of two batters faced in relief of Macuare, were the only two Hooks hurlers to escape unscathed.
Hooks pitching had authored a 2.00 ERA while blanking opponents in 40 of 45 frames over five games before surrendering nine runs on 11 hits, eight walks and three errors Wednesday.
Corpus Christi, averaging 6.5 runs per night over its eight-game win streak, was stopped by Gabe Mosser and four Missions relievers.
