Boston Breakers News Release

On Wednesday, Feb. 24 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, every 10th ticket order, both over the phone and online, will receive a cleat signed by the Breakers player of your choice!

Before the last home game of the 2009 season, international stars Kelly Smith and Alex Scott signed some of their personal cleats and handed them out to fans to rally them for the match.

Boston Breakers Member Dina Gentile's daughter was one of the lucky fans, "I have spent my personal and professional career around sports and nothing tops that moment with my daughter. The access to players is what makes WPS awesome. We are excited that other young fans will also be able to proudly display a cleat signed their favorite player - this is a special tradition that the Breakers have started with the boots and has made us fans for life."

Start off the Breakers season on the right foot and purchase your tickets on Wednesday, Feb. 24 beginning at 9:00 AM. Call the Breakers ticket office at 781-251-2100 or order your tickets online.

Breakers Sign Australian Sarah Walsh, Waive Canadian Christine Latham

The Boston Breakers announced the free agent signing of Australian National Team forward Sarah Walsh. She joins England National Team players Alex Scott and Kelly Smith, Brazilian forward Fabiana, and Spain's Laura Del Rio as Boston's league maximum five international players. The Breakers made room on the roster by waiving Canadian forward Christine Latham.

"Sarah has fantastic speed and attacking abilities," said Head Coach Tony DiCicco. "She loves to get behind defenses and has the ability to score herself and create goals for her teammates. Her leadership and experience will also provide a lot to our success. I look forward to coaching her and I think the Breaker fans will love her work ethic and abilities."

Walsh was originally drafted by Sky Blue FC as the 7th pick overall in the 2009 International Draft. She appeared in five games and scored one goal and one assist before being traded to Saint Louis Athletica on June 26, 2009. She played in 11 games for Athletica, starting in six, and notched a goal and two assists.
