Win 2 Season Tickets in Battle of the Kastles

September 16, 2013 - World TeamTennis (WTT) - Washington Kastles News Release

Sixteen past and present Kastles will play in our fantasy game to determine our greatest player ever.

In six short seasons, the Washington Kastles have showcased some of the greatest tennis players of all time.

When those men and women join forces, the results are historic: four Mylan World TeamTennis titles and a major U.S. pro sports record 34-match winning streak.

But what would happen if the Kastles -- and only the Kastles -- competed against one another in a single-elimination tournament?

We'll soon find out as the Battle of the Kastles begins today on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.

We're asking our fans -- that's YOU -- to vote for your favorite players in Kastle vs. Kastle match-ups every weekday through October 4. When it's all said and done, one player will be champion and one fan will win two season tickets for 2014!

You read right!

A Kastles Facebook, Twitter or Instagram follower is going to score two Chairback seats to all seven of our home matches next season... just for voting in the Battle of the Kastles!

Better yet: As 16 Kastles compete over 15 days, you can enter up to 45 times to win the season tickets!

Entries add up every day and across all three of our social media platforms, so if you vote in all 15 matches on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, chances are you will be sitting pretty all season long in 2014.

Visit our three social media sites at 10 am each weekday through October 4 and look for an image of the two Kastles players competing in that day's match. Comment on Facebook & Instagram and reply on Twitter with the name of the player that you're picking. The Kastle with the most votes advances to the next round.

It's that easy!

Whether you pick players based on their impact with Washington, accomplishments on tour, or sheer popularity, the choice is yours for deciding the greatest Kastle of all time

Among the 16 Kastles doing battle are seven Grand Slam champions, six former World No. 1s, five Mylan WTT MVPs and three Mylan WTT Rookies of the Year. The first-round match-ups are set, featuring several intriguing encounters.

Longtime teammates Leander Paes and Rennae Stubbs square off in today's opener, with the winner advancing to meet either Arina or Anastasia Rodionova . That sister showdown is set for tomorrow.

Marquee names such as Venus Williams, Martina Hingis, Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka are also in the draw, as are some of the best Kastles from the team's early years. Visit the History of the Kastles section of WashingtonKastles.com for more info, including statistics, photos and team records for all 16 players in the draw.

Rodionova & Kudryavtseva Win Québec City WTA Title

Kastles Defeat US Open Champions Hlavackova & Hradecka in Final

Anastasia and Alla rocked their Kastles jackets and trophies immediately after winning the Challenge Bell WTA title.

Oh, Canada!

Anastasia Rodionova and Alla Kudryavtseva captured the Québec City WTA title on Sunday with a stunning upset, defeating newly-crowned US Open champions Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 6-4, 6-3.

The Kastles duo broke the powerful Czechs four times in the final, winning 12 of 15 second serve return points en route to the upset.

"It wasn't an easy draw -- they've been playing some really good tennis recently, and the last few years too -- so we're really happy to win today," Rodionova said in an article on WTATennis.com. "It was amazing to play against them in the final. We had a good plan before the match and implemented and executed that plan really well."

Hlavackova and Hradecka entered the Challenge Bell final as the hottest team on tour. They had won 12 consecutive matches, including a 6-4, 6-2 rout of Serena and Venus Williams in the US Open semifinals.

One day later, the Czechs captured a second Grand Slam title to go with their 2011 French Open championship.

But they had no answer against Rodionova and Kudryavtseva, who won their second title as a team in one hour and eight minutes.

"We've been working a lot over the last few years to play more as a team, and less as individuals, and we really complemented each other well here in Québec," said Rodionova. "We really understand each other now."
