Wimbush and Stevens Earn All-Rookie Honors

DES MOINES - Concluding the 2022 Indoor Football League regular season, two Iowa Barnstormers have been named to the All-Rookie Team.

This week the Indoor Football League announced the 2022 All-Rookie Team selections. Of the 18 players selected, the Iowa Barnstormers saw representation on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Running back Antonio Wimbush (5'9", 205, Carson-Newman) earns Rookie-Team selection after a standout season with the Barnstormers. Not allowing an early-season injury to hold him back, Wimbush returned to the field as a force for the Barnstormers offense averaging 4.2 yards per carry for a total of 629 yards and 19 touchdowns. Wimbush stepped it up a notch as the season went on making a name for himself in the IFL, he was named Offensive Player of the Week during week 18 after rushing for an impressive seven touchdowns against the Tucson Sugar Skulls.

Defensive back JR Stevens (6'1", 185, Indiana University of Pennsylvania) earns Rookie-Team selection after proving to be a star on the Barnstormers defense. In 15 games, Stevens racked up 31 total tackles and one tackle for loss. Stevens earned a spot on the leaderboard placing third in the league in interceptions with a total of six.
