Texas Wildcatters News Release

BEAUMONT, TX (August 18, 2005) - Texas Wildcatters Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Tony MacAulay announced today the team has signed veteran left wing Dan Carney to a contract for the 2005-06 season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Carney is no stranger to new Wildcatters head coach Tony MacAulay, having played under MacAulay in Roanoke during the 2003-2004 season. In his best season as a pro, Carney scored 14 goals and 27 assists in 70 games as the Express finished second in the Southern Division and advanced to the Kelly Cup Playoffs under MacAulay. Carney, 33, skated last season for the CHL's San Angelo Saints where he netted nine goals and added 15 assists in 58 games. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward from Brooklyn, NY is a veteran of 58 professional playoff games, including 19 with the Hampton Roads Admirals in 1997-98 when they captured the Kelly Cup Championship in six games over the Pensacola Ice Pilots.

"Dan brings a wealth of knowledge, competitiveness and experience that is required of a veteran," stated MacAulay. "Having had the pleasure to coach Dan before, he is a true competitor and a leader in the locker room. In addition to being able to work with the younger players, Dan knows what it takes to win and he accepts nothing less."

"I am very excited to play for Tony again," added Carney. "But more importantly, I am looking forward to being part of a team that will make this season a turnaround for the fans and everyone involved."

The new-look Wildcatters open their third season on October 21 at Florida, before returning to Ford Arena for the home opener on October 29 against the Mississippi Sea Wolves.
