Wildcats Support National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30, 2022 - Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) - Moncton Wildcats News Release

Today, the Moncton Wildcats are taking time to acknowledge and reflect on the hurt, inequities, loss, and generational trauma that residential schools have caused to Indigenous peoples. We are using this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a time to reflect on how we can better support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

Reconciliation cannot happen without the truth being shared. We share space, so the truth may come out, the mending start, and the reconciliation progress.

Our staff and players will be commemorating the occasion by wearing orange ribbons, along with adding the Every Child Matters logo designed by K'ómoks First Nation's Andy Everson, to the players' helmets for both of our games this weekend.

If you can, we encourage you to donate to the following organizations:

- Big Cove First Nation Wellness Committee Inc.

- The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund

If you or someone you know is in need of support, please consult these resources:
