
Wildcats settle in at the Cage

Moncton Wildcats News Release
The Moncton Wildcats settle in for a weekend at The Cage after traveling to Quebec for three road games last week. They host the Val-D'Or Foreurs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Last week the Huskies beat the Wildcats with three quick goals in the last half of the third. The Wildcats lost to the Foreurs in a shoot out. Matt Eagles, Mark Barberio and Randy Cameron lead the Wildcats in scoring with 44, 27 and 24 points respectively so far this year.

GAME NOTES:
Cats lose to Huskies in final minutes.
There were three chances in the first for the Wildcats to score power play goals but when the buzzer sounded the first period was scoreless.
Shortly after the two minute mark in the second Moncton was awarded a power play and it only took Matt Eagles and Randy Cameron 48 seconds on the power play to set Jessie Biduke up with the first goal of the game. The Huskies failed to respond to Biduke's goal in the second period.
The third period was a tough one to be between the pipes. Rouyn-Noranda scored at 6:38 to tie the game at 1 all. Randy Cameron brought the lead back to the Wildcats with assists from Pierre-Marc Lessard and Andrew Eastman at 7:01. Rouyn-Noranda went on to score two power play goals less than a minute apart. The Huskies added their final goal at 17:23.
Lavigne faced 35 shots during the game, while the Wildcats made 23 attempts on the Huskies net.
Three stars of the game were Jarad Struthers (Rou), Charles Lavigne (Mon) and Pier-Luc Champagne(Rou).
Friday January 11th vs Val-D'Or Air Creebec Centre 7:30PM
GAME NOTES
It was a high scoring game at the Air Creebec Centre in Val-D'Or Friday night.
Val-D'Or stuck first and swiftly with the first goal of the game at 0:28 of the first period. A second Foreurs goal made it past Riopel at 8:50. Matt Brown put Moncton on the board at 10:10 with assists from David Savard and Adam Bezak. Alexi Pianosi tied the game up at 18:25 with a power play goal from Ted Stephens and Andrew Eastman.
The second period gave Val-D'Or the only advantage at 10:14.
In the third period it was again Val-D'Or that struck first and early, scoring at 0:15. Matt Brown broke the Foreur two-goal lead for the second time of the night with a goal at 1:51 from Kelan Herr and Devon MacAusland.
Matt Eagles netted a goal with assists from Randy Cameron and Pierre-Marc Lessard at 3:57 to tie the game at 4-apiece. Lessard gave Moncton the lead at 13:19 off an assist from Eagles. Nearly the game winning goal, but Val-D'Or scored with only 36 seconds left to drive the game into overtime.
A scoreless overtime resulted in shootouts. Jesse Biduke was the only Wildcat to put a puck in the net during shootouts, despite the 8 rounds. Val-D'Or managed to sneak past Riopel twice to claim the win.

Sunday January 13th vs Drummondville Marcel Dionne Centre 6:00PM
GAME NOTES:
The Wildcats return to New Brunswick with only two of the possible six points available in Quebec after a shoot out loss to Drummondville.
The Voltigeurs opened the scoring at 1:01 in the first. Sill and Morehouse set Jesse Biduke for the tie goal with only 4 seconds left on the clock.
The second period belonged to Moncton. At 15:17 Pierre-Marc Lessard scored a short handed goal, assisted by Matthew Brenton. Biduke netted his second of the game at 18:59 assisted by Eagles and Cameron on a power play.
Drummondville came back in the thrid period with two goals, one at 3:40 and the second at 11:26. The two Voltigeurs goals came on power plays and sent the game into a scoreless overtime.
Ted Stephens scored Moncton's only shoot out point. Lavigne faced 35 shots compared to the 28 shots Moncton made on Drummondville.

GAME NOTES:
The Moncton Wildcats will battle against the Val-D'Or Foreurs for the second and last time in the regular season Friday at the Moncton Coliseum. The Foreurs are 8th in the Telus division with 44 points. Marc-André Côté leads the Foreurs with 21 goals, 29 assists and 50 points in 47 games so far this season, including 7 power play goals.
Saturday January 19th vs Rouyn-Noranda Moncton Coliseum 7:00PM
GAME NOTES:
The Moncton Wildcats will face the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. The Huskies are currently 1st in the Telus division with 65 points. The Wildcats will try to improve their 8th place in the Eastern division with 43 points. Brett Morrison leads the Huskies with 27 goals, 31 assists and 58 points in 42 games so far this season, including 7 power play goals.
