LAST TIME OUT

On January 26, the Westchester Knicks (19-14), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce (22-10), 121-113, Saturday evening at the Westchester County Center.

After the Knicks mounted a nine-point halftime lead, Sioux Falls put together a strong third quarter to keep within striking distance before eventually overtaking the hosts for good late in the fourth. In the window, the Skyforce shot 70.6-percent from the field which included a 54.5-percent clip from three-point territory. The Knicks sank just 34.6-percent of their looks and 16.7-percent of them from the perimeter.

Two-Way Player Kadeem Allen scored a season-high 27 points to go along with nine rebounds and a team-high five dimes. Billy Garrett had 22 points and tied a season-high three triples, while also dishing a team-high five helpers. Zak Irvin hauled a game-high 15 rebounds, including five on the offensive glass.

Four Sioux Falls starters credited 20-point performances-Raphiael Putney (29), Rodney Purvis (26), Duncan Robinson (22) and Charles Cooke (20). Bubu Palo and Purvis led on the night with seven assists apiece.

CAREER SEKOU

Sekou Wiggs' nine rebounds against Sioux Falls (1/26) tabbed a new career-high for the guard. He's grabbed six or more rebounds five times this season.

BILLY GARR3TT

Billy Garrett netted three triples against Sioux Falls (1/26) which tied a career-high matched three other times and three times this season. His six triples in the last two games are the most by Garrett in a two-game span. In the window, he is shooting 66.7-percent from three.

PAUL IN ON THE ACTION

Paul Watson scored five field goals against Sioux Falls (1/26) which marked just the fourth time Watson was able to convert at least that many baskets. His 13 points nabbed the ninth time this season he scored in double-figures.

SCORING KADEEM

Sekou Wiggs scored 18 points against Sioux Falls (1/26) which marked just the fourth time he was able to do so. Those games have all come in the calendar year.

GOOD LOOKS AT THE BASKET

Before Sioux Falls (1/26), Zak Irvin was shooting 62.7-percent from the field from 1/16-1/25 (32-of-51). He shot 25-percent against the Skyforce.

AGGRESSIVE KADEEM

Against Sioux Falls (1/26), Kadeem Allen's seven made free-throws tabbed the most since he netted five against Memphis (1/25). He also drained five versus Texas (1/16). He made nine trips on back-to-back nights (1/25-1/26) which marked the most since he got to the line 10 times at Grand Rapids (12/15).

SEKOU FOR THREE

Sekou Wiggs drained four triples against Sioux Falls (1/26) which tabbed a new career-high for the guard and did so on 44.4-percent shooting. He's netted multiple threes in one game four times this season.

ZAK ON THE BOARDS

Zak Irvin hauled 15 rebounds against Sioux Falls (1/26) which tabbed a career-high. This included five on the offensive glass.

THAT'S THE BILLY WE KNOW

Billy Garrett scored 14 points against Texas (1/16) which marked the first time he was able to score in double-figures since tallying 14 against Fort Wayne (1/2). Garrett has put together six streaks of 10-plus points which ranged from two consecutive games to five.

PAUL ON DEFENSE

Paul Watson's nine rebounds against Memphis (1/25) tied his season-high and his four steals tabbed a new career-best.

WARNEY BUCKETS

Jameel Warney came to Westchester hot almost immediately. Following just a six-point performance against Rio Grande Valley (1/11), Warney went on to average 26.3 points over the next last four games, with 11.5 field goal makes per game on 58.3-percent shooting. He has scored in double-figures in all but one game as a Knick and is averaging 6.3 made field goals in his last three.

KEEP IT 100

The Knicks are averaging 103.9 points per home game while restricting their opponents to just 98.3 points per home game.

WE HAVE TO CONVERT

Before Delaware (1/19), Westchester got to the line 144 times in five games. However, the team only converted 95 of them (66%) which ranked 25th in the G League (as of 1/15). WHAT YOU DOIN' ZIMM?

From 1/21-1/23, Stephen Zimmerman was shooting 55.6-percent averaged 10.5 points in the span. He is also averaged eight rebounds and 2.5 on the offensive glass. Zimmerman's 13 points scored against the Raptors (1/23) marked the first time he scored in double-figures since reaching 11 against Rio Grande Valley (1/11). That performance capped a three-game streak. He tallied 14 points against Memphis (1/25).

WHO'S GONNA STEP UP

To start the season, John Jenkins led the team for three games straight. In November, Jenkins, Isaiah Hicks, Luke Kornet and Billy Garrett each took command of the scoring. December saw five different top scorers. With one game left in January, six different Knicks (Jenkins, Zak Irvin, Sekou Wiggs, Kadeem Allen, Jameel Warney, Billy Garrett) have led the team in scoring.

STOPPED THE SKID

Westchester's four-game skid which includes Capital City, Rio Grande Valley, Salt Lake City, Texas marked its longest slide this season.

FLOOR GENERAL

Kadeem Allen dished a career-high 13 assists against Delaware (1/19) which topped his previous superlative of 11 assists established on December 1 against Greensboro. Allen has registered eight or more assists ten times this season.

ZAK ZAK

Zak Irvin has recorded three double-doubles in 15 games. He has grabbed double-digits rebounds eight times this season and has scored in double figures on ten occasions.

When the Knicks have 0 days rest between games, they are 1-1. When the team has one days rest, the team is 10-6.

BACK WITH A VENGEANCE

Isaiah Hicks missed eight of the Knicks last twelve games. Against Delaware (1/19), Hicks tied his season-high 27 points while establishing another netting a personal-best four three-pointers. Against the Raptors (1/23), Hicks finished with a team-high 24 points on 64.3-percent shooting while hauling nine boards and dishing four assists. In his last three, Hicks is averaging 22.0 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists.

Isaiah Hicks is averaging 18.3 points in 14 wins and 14.4 points in eight setbacks.

WELCOME BACK TYRIUS WALKER

The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, acquired Tyrius Walker on January 26.

Walker, 6'1, 185, signed with the New York Knicks after participating in its 2018 Summer League and was waived prior to the start of the NBA G League season.

The Atlanta, GA native appeared in one game for the Maine Red Claws, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Boston Celtics.

He spent four years at Morehouse College, a Division II program. He was a four-year starter and in 2018, earned SIAC Player of the Year and All-America honors while leading the Maroon Tigers to a 25-3 record while earning the No. 1 spot in regional rankings and top ten national rankings for consecutive weeks.

WELCOME JAMEEL WARNEY

On January 8, the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, traded Xavier Rathan-Mayes to the Texas Legends in exchange for Jameel Warney.

Jameel Warney, 6'7 259, came to Westchester after appearing in 22 games this season for the Texas Legends, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks. He was averaging 13.7 on 43-percent shooting (seventh-best on the team) and 6.8 rebounds (third-best on the team).

With the Dub Knicks, the Rathan-Mayes averaged 16.7 points in 43 games on 43-percent shooting (third-best on the team). He shot 33.8-percent from distance, collected 6.4 rebounds per game (third-best on the team) and dished 7.2 assists per game (309 total assists slotted first on the team).

THAT WAS CLOSE

Before Capital City (1/6), Westchester was 5-0 in games settled by three points or less. The Knicks' 11-point loss to Austin (12/21) marked just the second time the team lost by 11 or more points. The one-point loss to Capital City (1/6) marked the first setback, 90-89, settled by a margin smaller than three.

IT'S MORE THAN DEFENSE

Austin (12/21) scored 99 points which marked the first time a Knicks opponent scored fewer than 100 points and still pulled out the victory. Previously, Westchester was 8-0 when an opponent failed to clear the 100-point mark. Capital City (1/6) scored just 90 in four periods and one-point overtime to tab the victory over the Knicks.

DEEM WITH THE DIME

From 12/19-12/27, Kadeem Allen was averaging 8.0 assists per game before missing his first game of the season.

SHOWCASE LEADERS

John Jenkins led the team in Vegas with 19.5 ppg on 45.2-percent shooting. Jenkins shot 40-percent from three as one of only five Knicks to connect from long range. His 5.5 apg ranked second on the team.

Stephen Zimmerman was the team's leading rebounder with 9.5 rpg during the Showcase, including six total on the offensive glass. Zimmerman earned one start and tied for third with 13.5 ppg.

Kadeem Allen led the Knicks in assists with 8.0 apg.

TWO-WAY DEEM

On January 14, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed guard Kadeem Allen to a Two-Way contract.

Allen, 6'3 200, joined the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, after appearing in two preseason games and being waived by New York on October 13, 2018.

Allen was a late second round pick in the 2017 NBA Draft out of the University of Arizona (2015-17) and Hutchinson Community College (2012-14), selected 53rd overall by the Boston Celtics. With the Red Claws, Allen averaged 17.7 points per game, a team-leading 2.2 steals per game and 5.0 assists per game. He was later named to the 2018 NBA G League All-Defensive Team.

With Allen's Two-Way contract, he will be the eighth Westchester Knick to earn a call-up and seventh under head coach Mike Miller. At least one player has earned a call-up each season since Westchester's G League inception in 2014.

THE COACH'S CHALLENGE

The coach's challenge was revised so that teams receive only one challenge per game, to be used at any point during regulation or overtime periods. Only fouls called, goaltending/basket interference and out-of-bounds calls may be challenged.

TWO-WAY PLAYERS

Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under "Two-Way Contracts."

NBA teams may have up to two players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not more than 45 days with their NBA team. Two-Way players are paid a corresponding daily amount based on the number of days they play in each league. Only players with four or fewer years of NBA service are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.

Isaiah Hicks and Kadeem Allen are under Two-Way Contract via the New York Knicks.

SUCCESS STORY

On December 13, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed guard Allonzo Trier to an NBA contract. With this signing, Trier becomes the first two-way player to sign a guaranteed NBA contract within the first two months of the season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
