Wesley Sutton Receives of CFL Player of the Week Nod

Montreal - The Canadian Football League unveiled Tuesday that Alouettes defensive back Wesley Sutton was named amongst its Players of the past week.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers' offence, and especially quarterback Zach Collaros are without a doubt happy that they won't have to face Sutton for the rest of the regular season. In last Thursday's Alouettes' 20-17 win, the 26-year-old made five defensive tackles, as well as two sacks, while forcing a fumble and knocking down a pass.
The timing of his exploits were even more remarkable, as the former Northern Arizona University Lumberjack made key plays in key moments, which allowed Montreal to come away with the win.
With the Blue Bombers leading 17-10 in the fourth quarter as they were driving the field to put the game out of the Alouettes' reach, Sutton registered a strip sack which was recovered by his teammate Tyrice Beverette. The offence then tied the score in the fourth quarter, before taking a 20-17 lead in the first overtime possession. Sutton then went on to make a real nice defensive play by knocking down Collaros' pass intended for Dalton Schoen, forcing them to attempt a field goal, which they eventually missed. Even the replay officials were given the chance to re-witness Sutton's excellent work.
The selection was voted by a panel of judges made up of Matt Dunigan and Marshall Ferguson of TSN, as well as Pierre Vercheval of RDS, who independently send their selections to the CFL head office.
