CHIVAS USA'S ALL STAR DEFENDER HEATH PEARCE CALLED UP FOR MATCH VS MEXICO: The Goats All Star Defender Heath Pearce has been called up to the US National Team for the international friendly against Mexico on Wednesday, August 10th to be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The match will be the first for Pearce under Jurgen Klinsmann's new era. Pearce joined the rest of the 22-player roster last Sunday afternoon, following Saturday evening's Chivas USA victory over the New England Revolution by a score of 3-2 at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium. The 26 year-old Modesto, California native stated on his way to Boston: "This is a new opportunity for me. I haven't been with the National team for about a year now and I am very excited to meet the group. It's a brand new cycle, there are a bunch of new faces, and I am ready to embrace it all." Chivas USA's Head Coach Robin Fraser also from LAX airport on his way to Massachusetts with the team happily commented the following; "I think it is great and very deserving. He's been extremely consistent for us (Chivas USA) all year long and Heath's ability to play in a couple of different positions makes him even more attractive to a situation like that."
CHIVAS USA TAKE FIRST ON ROAD TRIP: On an overcast evening in Massachusetts, there was a feeling of some kind of storm brewing in the air and all though the rain would never arrive in the form of water it would in the form of GOALS! A total of five to be exact, three for the visiting Chivas USA and two for the home team New England Revolution. This win not only puts the Goats right back into the mix of things looking forward to the playoffs, but also extends their winning streak against the Revs to 5 games, dating back to the 2009 season. Chivas USA broke the scoreless tie in the 31st minute with a goal from Alejandro Moreno, assisted by Nick LaBrocca and Simon Elliott. The Goats enjoyed this lead through halftime and would add an unassisted second goal by All Star Midfielder Nick LaBrocca in the 59th minute, which ties LaBrocca with Justin Braun as team leading goal scorers with 7 a piece. Just 10 minutes later what seemed to look as just a dive on the replay by second half substitute Diego Fagundez and an unjust foul charged to All Star Defender Heath Pearce would become a PK for the Revs, taken by Shalrie Joseph, putting the score at 2-1 still in favor of the Goats. Alejandro Moreno would score his second goal of the match giving him a total of 5 for the season assisted by Ante Jazic and Justin Braun in the 80th minute. And just when we thought the roller coaster ride was done, 16 year-old Diego Fagundez would score his first ever MLS goal and bring the Revolution within 1 goal of the tie at 3 in the 86th minute.
CHIVAS USA SIGNS VETERAN FRENCH MAN LAURENT COURTOIS: Chivas USA announced last week that it has signed Laurent Courtois, who until last May played for Grenoble (also known as Grenoble Foot 38) in the Southeastern region of France. Laurent Courtois a 32 year-old veteran, originally from Lyon (France), has a wealth of club experience playing for the French club Grenoble (2008-2011), the Spanish club Levante (2005-2008), the Istres in France (2003-2005), as well as West Ham United of the English Premier League (2001-2003), the French clubs Tolouse or TFC (1999-2001), AC Ajaccio (1998-1999), and Lyon (1996-1997). Courtois will wear Chivas USA jersey #16. "Laurent has played in the top leagues in France and Spain. He is tremendously experienced. He has a very good first touch, is a good passer, and is a very intelligent and experienced soccer player whom we're extremely excited to have," said Head Coach Robin Fraser. "I'm left footed. I can play all the places in midfield. I like to attack, and I hope I'm going to bring something to help the team," said midfielder and now a Goat, Laurent Courtois. "I could see that we have [some of the best possession stats] in the league. We just need to translate that into goals. I'm going to try and help to bring something to finish the job and get the points. It's a shame that you can dominate the game and still leave with zero points. That's frustrating, so let's work on it."
FRANCISCO "PANCHITO" MENDOZA TIES CHIVAS USA APPEARANCE RECORD: Mendoza has now played in 123 games for Chivas USA, tying Jonathan Bornstein's record and needing only one more game appearance to surpass and become the all time leader. The fan favorite and Chivas USA original has now appeared in 12 matches this season, and passed Sacha Kljestan's 114 appearances earlier this year.

CHIVAS USA ANNOUNCES UNIQUE PARTNERSHIP WITH PADRES CONTRA EL CANCER: Chivas USA announced last month an in-depth partnership with PADRES Contra El Cancer, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for Latino families with children who suffer from cancer and blood disorders. The mission-driven relationship will support PADRES and include fundraising and awareness campaigns that will engage Chivas USA team members, the team's own non-profit Fundacion Chivas de Corazon USA, as well as link elements from Chivas USA's sister-team Club Deportivo Chivas de Guadalajara. Jimmy Conrad and Mariano Trujillo got things started by visiting a group of children undergoing cancer treatment at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. The players also taped public service announcements aimed at creating awareness about the need for more individuals to join the national bone marrow registry list. Over the course of this summer, Chivas USA will designate part of the proceeds from the ticket sales from a number of home matches to benefit PADRES, all of which will culminate with a unique night scheduled for September. PEARCE PLAYS EVERY MINUTE: Defender Heath Pearce has played every minute so far this season, his first with Chivas USA. He has now started all twenty three games for the Red-and-White, playing a total of 2,070 minutes. Nick LaBrocca is the only other players to have started all twenty three games, but he has been substituted, leaving the 26-year old Pearce as the only Goat to play every possible minute thus far.
