February 13, 2017 - Western Hockey League (WHL) - Kootenay Ice News Release

ICE CHIPS: The KOOTENAY ICE enter this week's action with a 12-35-7-2 record (7-17-5-1 at home, 5-18-2-1 on the road, 1-7 in overtime, 2-2 in shootouts) and in sixth place in the CENTRAL DIVISION...The ICE will play a mid-week matinee in EDMONTON February 15 before returning home to host SASKATOON February 17 and VICTORIA February 18.

PINK THE RINK: Join the KOOTENAY ICE and WESTERN FINANCIAL GROUP for PINK THE RINK NIGHT February 17 versus the SASKATOON BLADES...Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game and join the ICE in taking a stand against bullying...Parents of students in SCHOOL DISTRICTS 5, 6 and 8 can contact their school office for details on how to attend one of our biggest nights of the season!

JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT: The 2017 JERSEY OFF THE BACK NIGHT will take place February 18 when the ICE host the VICTORIA ROYALSFans in attendance will have the opportunity to bid on the white KOOTENAY ICE game-worn jerseysThe winning bidder of each jersey will get to meet their player after the game and will receive their jersey at the end of the seasonProceeds benefit the KOOTENAY ICE EDUCATION FUND.

ROSTER UPDATE: KOOTENAY is carrying 23 players (two goaltenders, eight defensemen and 13 forwards)...The ICE roster is made up of one 1996-born player, four 1997-born players, nine 1998-born players, six 1999-born players, and three 2000-born players...KOOTENAY has ten first-year players on its roster.

DID YOU KNOW: TROY MURRAY appeared in his 250th WHL game February 12 versus LETHBRIDGE, and is now tied with CHAD GREENAN for fourth among franchise leaders in games played by a DefensemanThe franchise leader in games played by a blueliner is JAGGER DIRK (310)VINCE LOSCHIAVO (6-7-13) and BRETT DAVIS (5-6-11) have each registered points in six of the last seven gamesLOSCHIAVO has scored 21 of his 31 career goals this seasonDAVIS is one contest away from 100 career WHL games played...COLTON KROEKER has recorded multi-point efforts in back-to-back games (4-2-6)KOOTENAY played their 250th FEBRUARY game in franchise history February 11 versus PRINCE ALBERT...The ICE hold an all-time FEBRUARY record of 124-101-19-7Former KOOTENAY forward BROCK MONTGOMERY recorded a multi-goal game (two goals) in his debut with the ADIRONDACK THUNDER of the ECHL February 7.

INJURIES: Forward BARRETT SHEEN will be out of the ICE lineup two weeks with an upper body injuryDefenseman NIKITA RADZIVILYUK will be out of the KOOTENAY lineup week to week with an upper body injuryForward NOAH PHILP will be out of the ICE lineup day to day with an upper body injury.

ONE YEAR AGO: After 56 games of the 2015-16 season the ICE were 10-41-5-0, after 57 games 10-42-5-0 and after 58 games 10-43-5-0.
