FRIDAY, APRIL 16

Manchester Wolves 47, ALBANY CONQUEST 34 (Attendance: 7,126)

ALBANY, N.Y - Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game Chris Sanders completed 26-of-37 passes for 238 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Wolves (1-2) to a 47-34 win over the Conquest (0-2) Friday night at Pepsi Arena. Reggie Robinson caught seven of Sander's passes for a game-high 120 yards and four touchdowns. George Williams, who earned U.S. Army Ironman honors, caught the other two touchdowns for the Wolves on 11 receptions for 56 yards. ADT Defensive Player of the Game Marvin Owens registered four solo tackles and two interceptions for the Wolves. The Conquest's Elijah Beamon led all players with nine solo tackles.

LOUISVILLE FIRE 78, Macon Knights 42 (Attendance: 7,107)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Matt Sauk, Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game, threw a 2004 league high nine touchdowns as the Fire (2-0) toppled Macon (0-2) 47-14 in the second half on their way to a 78-42 win Friday night at Freedom Hall. Sauk completed 16-of-29 passes for 310 yards and threw touchdowns to six different receivers. Tony Stallings and Dennis Fryzel, who shared the U.S. Army Ironman of the Game, each had two touchdown receptions. Stallings also rushed three times for 18 yards and a score, and Fryzel recovered two fumbles on defense for the Fire. Justin Thomas earned ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors by tallying seven tackles (6UA-2AT), recovering one fumble and intercepting two passes for the Fire who are 2-0 for the first time in team history. Jamaal Garmen led the Knights with eight catches for 92 yards and three touchdowns.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers 75, GREEN BAY BLIZZARD 39 (Attendance: 4,107)

GREEN BAY, Wis. - Behind a stingy defense that only allowed six points in the second half, the Pioneers (2-0) shut down the Blizzard 75-39 Friday night at the Resch Center. The Pioneers defense recovered three fumbles and picked-off three passes in the game. Tim Hicks had his first start under center for the Pioneers and completed 15-of-23 passes for 211 yards and five touchdowns. He threw passes to nine different receivers, including five for 87 yards and three touchdowns to J.R. Thomas. Randall Lane paced the Blizzard with seven touchdowns for 122 yards and three touchdowns.

Wichita Stealth 47, PEORIA PIRATES 26 (Attendance: 4,252)

PEORIA, Ill. - In his first game since coming of the injured list, Michael Dritlein caught eight passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns, helping the Stealth (3-0) to a 47-26 win over the Pirates (1-2) Friday night at the Peoria Civic Center. Aaron Sparrow threw for 247 yards with six touchdowns and he rushed for another score. The Stealth defense, which has allowed only 27.3 points per game this season, kept the Pirates scoreless in the second half. Brian Livingston led the Stealth defensive effort with three solo tackles and two of the team's three interceptions. Peoria's Frank West tallied six tackles (5UA-2AT) and an interception, while teammate Antonine Worthman added five tackles (4UA-2AT) and another interception.

SATURDAY, APRIL 17

COLUMBUS WARDOGS 62, Cape Fear Wildcats 52 (Attendance: 2,946)

COLUMBUS, Ga. - Kyle Rowley threw for five touchdowns and rushed for two more as the Wardogs (1-1) slipped past the Wildcats (1-1) 62-52 Saturday night at the Columbus Civic Center. Rowley completed 25-of-31 passes for 242 yards including 12 passes for 101 yards and two touchdowns to Adrian Cockfield. Reggie James added three touchdowns on five receptions for 71 yards. Cape Fear's Matt Burnstein caught all five of the Wildcat's passing touchdowns on 13 receptions for 178 yards. He also returned seven kickoffs for 195 yards, including one runback of 56 yards for a touchdown, and he was named the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the game. Defensively, Cape Fear's Kenton Rickerson led all tacklers with 7.5 (7UA-1AT) and Columbus' Terence Samuel had four solo tackles and a 12-yard interception return for a touchdown.

MEMPHIS XPLORERS 54, Florida Firecats 51 (Attendance: 3,213)

SOUTH HAVEN, Miss. - Brian Jones earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game honors by passing for three touchdowns and rushing for two more as the Xplorers (1-1) edged the Firecats (1-1) 54-51 Saturday night at DeSoto Civic Center. Jones, who completed 14-of-22 passes for 153 yards, found Kevin Prentiss eight times for 98 yards and three touchdowns. ADT Defensive Player of the Game Dahnel Singfield recorded 1.5 tackles and an interception for the Xplorers. Teammate LeJuan Edwards added a game high 10.5 tackles (9UA-3AT). Ken Mastrole completed 17-of-29 passes for 242 yards and five touchdowns and Steve Gorrie added two rushing tallies for the Florida offense.

Birmingham Steeldogs 56, ARKANSAS TWISTERS 40 (Attendance: 9,086)

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game Jeff Aaron completed 13-of-24 passes for 341 yards and six touchdowns as the Steeldogs (2-1) dropped the Twisters (1-2) Saturday night at Alltell Arena. Detronn Harris caught six of Aaron's passes for a game-high 140 yards and three touchdowns. Ted Alford led the Twisters' receiving corps with eight grabs for 121 yards and three touchdowns. Defensively, the Steeldogs registered three sacks, while Darnell Small recorded a sack for the Twisters and was named the ADT Defensive Player of the Game.

QUAD CITY STEAMWHEELERS 47, Tennessee Valley Vipers 29 (Attendance: 6,354)

MOLINE, Ill. - In a highly anticipated matchup between af2's top two ranked teams, Ronnie Gordon completed 16-of-28 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns as the No. 1 Steamwheelers (3-0) rolled to a 47-29 win over the No. 2 Vipers (1-1) Saturday night at The Mark. Tim Dodge earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game honors, catching eight passes for 119 yards and two scores for the Steamwheelers. Matt Forbes was named ADT Defensive Player of the Game after tallying his second interception of the season, recording 2.5 tackles (2UA-1AT) and registering three pass deflections for the Wheelers. Ronney Daniels led the Vipers with four receptions for 110 yards and three touchdowns.

BAKERSFIELD BLITZ 57, San Diego Riptide 54 (Attendance: 7,112)

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Steve Wofford's 57-yard kickoff return for a touchdown with 45 seconds left in the game lifted the Blitz (2-1) to a 57-54 win over the Riptide (0-3) Saturday night before the largest crowd to ever see an af2 game at Centennial Garden. Chad Elliot earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game honors by completing 28-of-37 passes for 308 yards and seven touchdowns for the Blitz. His main target, Eric Mahanke had a game high 14 receptions for 153 yards and three touchdowns, earning U.S. Army Ironman of the Game honors in the process. Dwight Carter hauled in six receptions for 102 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Riptide.

HAWAIIAN ISLANDERS 63, Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings 60 (Attendance: 4,103)

HONOLULU - Led by clutch performances down the stretch by the Arceneaux brothers, Darnell and Anthony, the Islanders (2-1) outlasted the Battle Wings 63-60 Saturday night at Neal Blaisdsell Arena. Darnell finished the game 16-of-27 passing with an Islander record-tying six touchdown passes and two rushing scores, while brother Anthony posted a key interception return late in the game to seal the victory. As a result the Arceneaux brothers were named the Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game and ADT Defensive Player of the Game, respectively. Bossier-Shreveport's Sherard Poteete completed 21-of-35 passes for 237 yards with three touchdowns and he rushed seven times for eight yards and two more scores, but he did toss an interception as the Battle Wings looked to take the lead with under 30 seconds left in the game.
