Washington Wild Things News Release
The Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Federal Savings Bank, took game two of the series against the Windy City Thunderbolts with an 11-0 victory Wednesday night at Falconi Field.
Wild Things starter Tom Cochran tossed his third complete game shutout of the season to improved his record to 7-5 on the season. Cochran allowed only three hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Washington leftfielder Chris Carter was the offensive catalyst for the Wild Things going 3-5, a double shy of the cycle. Carter cranked his sixth home run of the season over the centerfield wall in the third inning and smashed a three-run triple in the fourth inning.
Another key component to Washington's attack was centerfielder Chris Sidick, who went 2-5 with two runs scored and two RBI. Catcher Lance Koenig, second baseman Kyle Werman, third baseman Pat Peavey, designated hitter Matt Bok and shortstop Brett Grandstrand each collected an RBI in the lopsided victory.
The Wild Things (46-31) will look to defeat the Thunderbolts in the rubber match of the series at Falconi Field Thursday night. Game time is 7:05 p.m. It's Dollar Thurst-Day as all fans can get buck beverages at the ballpark all night long!
