Wahoos-Biscuits Suspended in the Second
July 12, 2013 - Southern League (SL1)
Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
The Blue Wahoos and Biscuits were suspended in the top of the second inning with the game knotted at zero on a rainy Friday night at Montgomery's Riverwalk Stadium.
With the start already delayed by inclement weather, both teams scratched a pair of hits before play was stopped for a second time by rain. The Biscuits put two runners aboard with a pair of two-out hits against starter Ryan Dennick, but a strikeout ended the frame without harm. Just as the Blue Wahoos' bats warmed to Montgomery hurler Mike Colla one inning later, a lightning delay quickly stopped the game before the umpires ultimately suspended play.
Tomorrow's game will be resumed with no count on Travis Mattair and two Wahoos on the basepaths. Donald Lutz, who led the inning with a double, stands in on third base, while catcher Tucker Barnhart will wait at first base. The completion of tonight's game will commence at 5:05 PM and continue to a full nine innings. Game two of the doubleheader will follow after the conclusion of the suspended game, lasting only seven innings.
The Wahoos (11-11) aim for the series victory tomorrow night with Daniel Renken (2-6, 3.91 ERA) slated to start in the finale. Tune in to ESPN Radio (1450 AM and 101.1 FM) for continuing coverage of the set or watch the live video feed available to online subscribers on MiLB.TV.
