VooDoo Announce Additional Player Signing and Open Tryouts

NEW ORLEANS, LA (October 6, 2010) - The New Orleans VooDoo announced, today, the signing of DL Tommy Taggart (6'4", 285, Oklahoma). Taggart comes to the VooDoo after playing in 2010 with the Dallas Vigilantes.
VooDoo Head Coach, Derek Stingley said of Taggart's signing: "Tommy is what I call a real arenafootball player. He can play on both sides of the ball at a high level. I'm thrilled to have Tommy with us! He brings added depth on the offensive and defensive side of the ball."
The New Orleans VooDoo will hold its first open tryouts for the 2011 season at John Curtis High School in River Ridge, Louisiana, October 23rd and 24th. On October 23rd registration will begin at 12 noon with drills beginning at 1:00 PM. That day's tryouts are for Skilled Players: quarterbacks, wide receivers, and defensive backs. Linemen, linebackers, fullbacks, and kickers will tryout on Sunday, October 24th. Registration will begin at 9:00 AM with drills beginning at 10:00 AM.
Participants need to bring outdoor cleats to wear on a grass surface and wear proper athletic attire for outdoors. A VooDoo t-shirt will be provided each participant. Participants will be tested in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard short shuttle and other non-contact drills. A non-refundable registration fee of $60 (cash only) is due the day of tryouts. Walk-ups are welcome.

The New Orleans VooDoo will play in the New Orleans Arena, an SMG managed facility directly across the street from the Louisiana Superdome. Season tickets for the VooDoo 9 regular season home games are on sale now by calling 1-888-277-5526. 2011 season ticket prices are frozen at VooDoo 2008 prices. And through October 15th people who purchase season tickets will receive the 9th regular season game ticket free.
