Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Visalia, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino could not hold an early lead on Sunday at Visalia eventually losing to the Rawhide 5-3. Visalia (22-9) completed the sweep of the three-game set as the Rawhide bullpen covered 7.2 IP allowing just one hit and two walks to hold the Sixers down. Camden Duzenack blasted two homers in the game for the Rawhide including the game winning two-run shot with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.

The 66ers (14-17) loaded the bases against Rawhide starter Shumpei Yoshikawa with no outs in the first and took a 1-0 lead when cleanup batter Kevin Williams Jr. drew a bases-loaded walk. The Sixers settled for a run in the first but got an RBI double by Ryan Vega in the second and then a starter-chasing RBI single from Torii Hunter Jr. and a 3-0 lead. Bryan Valdez then relieved and set down the next 11 batters he faced and 15 of the 16 he saw. Inland Empire starter Aaron Hernandez allowed two runs in a career-high five innings and did not figure in the decision. Denny Brady (1-3) allowed a game-tying double in the seventh off the bat of Renae Martinez and then the two-run homer by Duzenack in the eighth for a 5-3 lead. Duzenack, who homered in the fifth has three homers in the last two games versus Inland Empire and now seven on the year; he was 2-for-31 against IE in 2018, both singles. Luis Castillo (3-0) was credited with the win with a perfect eighth frame and West Tunnel got his fourth save despite a pair of Sixers' runners in the ninth.

The 66ers open a series at Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday at 7:05 pm. The contest can be heard live at 66ers.com.
