Vigil Held for the Humboldt Broncos

For immediate release - Friday, April 13th, 2018

On Friday, April 6, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Humboldt Broncos team bus was involved in a devastating collision. The tragedy resulted in the loss of 16 members of the Broncos organization, including 10 players, and six staff.

On Thursday, April 12th Springfield Funeral Home hosted a group vigil outside of Prospera Place. Hundreds of locals came out wearing hockey jerseys or Broncos shirts with green and yellow ribbons pinned to their chests. The Kelowna Fire Department and R.C.M.P. were also in attendance.

Pastor Don Richmond spoke to the crowd, led everyone in prayer, and held a moment of silence in honour of those we tragically lost.

Students from the Pursuit Of Excellence hockey program were also in attendance and selected student released a balloon in honour of each Broncos team member who lost their life.

Kelowna Rockets defenceman Kelvin Hair and goaltender Roman Basran attended the event.

After the ceremony concluded the entire crowd gathered together and joined hands for a group photo to send to the Broncos.

Through such a terrible and horrific tragedy, Canada has come together to show the Humboldt Broncos that the entire country stands with them during this tough time.
