DES MOINES "" The Iowa Barnstormers have re-signed defensive back Verkedric Vaughns to the 2021 roster, Head Coach Ameer Ismail announced today.

Vaughns (5-10, 195, Baylor University) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his rookie season in the Indoor Football League. Collegiately, Vaughns spent four years at Baylor University. Vaughns initially signed on with the Iowa Barnstormers ahead of the 2020 season, making the team's final roster before the season's cancellation due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"I'm excited to get back on the field again. I've built relationships with the players and staff so I'm excited to get back to playing and winning the Championship," said Vaughns. "We practiced really hard and had fun. Everybody felt like family."

Vaughns and his teammates had just finished Training Camp and were hitting the road for their first game when news of the season's uncertain future broke.

"Being a first year arena guy last camp prepared me for what's to come," Vaughns added. "I found my groove with the 50-yard field and I know what to expect now."

Vaughns will enter Training Camp again, this time for the 2021 season, in the spring.
