Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - Minor League Baseball and Esurance have named the Tri-City ValleyCats as one of their winners of the Esurance Home Field Advantage Award, which honors the communities who best supported their hometown Minor League Baseball teams during the 2017 season.

The ValleyCats led the 14 team New York-Penn League with the highest percentage of attendance based on ballpark capacity (91%), averaging 4,089 fans per game at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, which has a capacity of 4,500. The 'Cats, along with co-winner Hudson Valley Renegades, will be recognized for this honor at the Baseball Winter Meetings in Orlando, Florida this December.

"We are proud to be a recipient of this year's Esurance Home Field Advantage Award, and couldn't have done it without the support of all of our wonderful fans," said ValleyCats General Manager, Matt Callahan. "We can't thank them enough for coming out each and every night to support the team, and making 'The Joe' a great place to see a game."

In 2017 the 'Cats average attendance was second best in the New York-Penn League for the second straight season, behind just the Brooklyn Cyclones who averaged 5,190 fans.

Over 163,000 fans came to Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in 2017 for games and special events that included an Education Day for local schools, the New York-Penn League All-Star Game, Wrestling Under the Stars, a Father's Day 5k, the ENYTB youth baseball tournament, among many others. Charitable events included an MS Walk, Walk for Wishes, Battle of the Badges, Relay For Life, and a corporate baseball tournament known as the Capital Region Series.

In the 16 seasons since the club began play in 2002, the ValleyCats have welcomed over 2.2 million fans through the gates at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. Plans have already begun for the 2018 season, with a schedule release tentatively slated for October. Ticket plans are on sale now, and more information can be found online at tcvalleycats.com, or by calling 518-629-CATS (2287).
