USA Hockey Invites Stein

June 16, 2020 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

Waterloo, Iowa - Logan Stein was among four American goaltenders picked to participate in USA Hockey's World Junior Summer Showcase camp in Michigan beginning on July 24th.

USA Hockey will choose from among the 43 total players at the Showcase to build the 2021 U.S. National Junior Team, which will represent the country during the IIHF World Junior Championships in Alberta this winter.

Stein has spent the last two years with the Black Hawks building an overall record of 28-12-1. During the 2019/20 season, he led the United States Hockey League with four shutouts, and in 20 appearances, he carved his goals-against average down to 2.33, while boosting his save percentage to .911.

Twice named a USHL Goaltender of the Week during the 2019/20 season, Stein also participated in USA Hockey's 2020 All-American Game and is eligible to be selected during the NHL Draft this summer. He is committed to Ferris State University.

At least one Black Hawks alumnus has skated on the U.S. team during the World Junior Championships in six of the last seven years. In that time, seven different players have worn the National Junior Team's colors, including multiple appearances at the event by Ian McCoshen, Mikey Anderson, Dylan Samberg, and Jack Drury.

The 2020 World Junior Championships ended a streak of four consecutive years in which the U.S. had won a medal during the competition.
