UIF Week 5 Wrap-up

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football (UIF) wrapped up Week 5 of indoor football action on Saturday night with some of the biggest nail biters of the season. The Sioux Falls Storm (5-0) won in overtime, 47-44, in Ft. Wayne (3-2). The Lexington Horsemen (4-0) took down the Evansville BlueCats (1-4), 33-26. The Sioux City Bandits (2-3) won on the road in Omaha (2-3) with a 31-27 victory. The Greyhounds (2-3) won at home against the Bloomington Extreme (2-3) with a dominating 67-29 win. Rounding out the night was Rock River (3-2) over the Peoria Rough Riders (0-4),

SIOUX FALLS STORM 47, AT FT. WAYNE FREEDOM 44 - Defending champs, the Sioux Falls Storm, was put to the test as the Ft. Wayne Freedom took them to the first overtime of the season. The Storm pulled away with a 47-44 victory to remain undefeated at 5-0. Terrance Bryant hit Mike Scott for a 33-yard TD pass with 32-seconds remaining in the game to take the Storm into the extra quarter. Adam Hicks sealed the victory in overtime with a 30-yard field goal. Bryant threw for 209-yards from 17 of 28 passing. He connected on three touchdowns and also had three interceptions. Defensively for the Storm, Mark Blackburn nailed 7.5 tackles and one interception for 19-yards. Wide Receiver, Adrian Reese, led the Freedom with seven catches for 76 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Storm (5-0) will travel to Ohio Valley next weekend as the Freedom (3-2) head to Lexington.

SIOUX CITY BANDITS 31, AT OMAHA BEEF 27 - The Bandits (2-3) are on a two-game winning streak as they countered the Beefs (2-3) victory at the Tyson's Event Center from Week 2 with a win in the Slaughter House in Omaha with a 31-27 win. The Bandits trailed the entire contest until Tyler Schuerman connected on a 16-yard pass to John Ostermeyer for the TD to put the Bandits up by 3. At the following kick-off, the Beef bobbled the ball in the end zone and the Bandits took advantage and was awarded a rouge (one-point for tackling in the end zone during a kick-off.) That sealed the victory for the Bandits, 31-27. Sioux City was led by Schuerman with 101-yards passing and one TD from 9 of 24 passing. RJ Rollins had two receiving touchdowns for 50-yards for the Beef. Omaha will head to Rock River and Sioux City travels to Peoria for week 6.

LEXINGTON HORSEMEN 33, AT EVANSVILLE BLUECATS 26 - The Horsemen (4-0) remain undefeated as the edged out the BlueCats (1-4) in a final second touchdown to win 33-26. In a game of mostly defense, half of the scoring came in the fourth quarter. The Horsemen host Ft. Wayne next weekend as the BlueCats have a week 6 bye.

IN OHIO VALLEY GREYHOUNDS 67, BLOOMINGTON EXTREME 29 - It was all Hounds as they notched their second victory in a row to move to 2-3 on the season and drop the Extreme to 2-3 also. Bloomington drew first blood of the contest to move up 9-0 early in the game, but it was all Greyhounds after that. Ohio Valley will host the Sioux Falls Storm in week 6 as the Bloomington Extreme will take the week off with a bye.

IN ROCK RIVER RAPTORS 70, PEORIA ROUGH RIDERS 37 - The Raptors held nothing back and moved to 3-2 on the season and dropped the Rough Riders to 0-4, making them the only team not to capture a victory in the 2006 season yet. This is the first victory for the Raptors in their new home of the MetroCentre in Rockford, IL. Next week the Raptors host the Omaha Beef and the Rough Riders head back home to welcome in the Sioux City Bandits.
