MADISON, Wis. - Bryan Rust (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) scored the lone U.S. National Under-18 Team goal as it fell to No. 4 University of Wisconsin, 7-1, here tonight at the Kohl Center.

Jordy Murray struck first for the Badgers after he tapped home a feed from Blake Geoffrion from the middle slot at 10:50 of the opening frame. Netminder Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich.) stopped nine shots in the period to keep the U.S. within striking distance.

Geoffrion doubled the Wisconsin lead just seven seconds into a power play when he tipped Justin Schultz's center-point snap shot through Campbell at 3:46 of the second stanza. Geoffrion gave the Badgers a three-goal advantage with another power-play tally after he ripped a wrist shot into the upper-right corner from between the hash marks at 16:16.

Wisconsin extended its lead to four goals when Michael Davies slammed a rebound into the open net from the right side of the crease at 7:11. Just 46 seconds later, Rust slipped a loose puck between the legs of netminder Brett Bennett from the top of the crease to put Team USA on the board. However a pair of goals from Davies and Ben Street at 12:05 and 15:13, respectively, dashed the U.S. comeback hopes. John Mitchell scored with just 11 seconds remaining in the game to close out the scoring at 7-1.

Campbell made 27 saves on the night.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team is back in action Friday when it meets Ohio State University at 7 p.m. EST in Columbus, Ohio.
