Tyler Graham Joins Cougars

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Kansas City Royals, have announced that pitcher Tyler Graham has joined the club from the Burlington Royals of the Appalachian League, while pitcher Chas Byrne has been placed on the disabled list. The Cougars maintain an active squad of 25 players as the team opens a three-game series at home against Beloit this evening at 6:30 p.m. Entering play this evening, the Cougars hold a one-game lead over Quad Cities for the Western Division second half championship and a seven-game advantage for a playoff berth with 20 regular season games to go.

Graham (22nd round, 2010) has pitched in 14 games at Burlington this season, posting a 2-1 record and 3.09 ERA. The right-hander pitched collegiately at the University of Nevada, compiling 10 saves as a senior to earn second team All-WAC honors. His father, Randy, pitched in the Yankees' and Expos' minor league systems.

Byrne (16th round, 2010) has been with the Cougars since Opening Day and his 35 relief appearances are tied with Chase Boruff for most on the team.
