Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
Delvin Perez, Nick Hanson and Zach Cooper two-hit the Scrappers lineup and Chris Serritella hit his first home run as the Cutters beat Mahoning Valley 2-1.
Perez got the win in five innings of work. He allowed just one run on two hits. Hanson retired all nine batters he faced in three innings of perfect work, while Cooper picked up his first save.
Serritella's first professional home run came on a 1-2 change-up in the sixth. Serritella drove it out to right-center field to put the Crosscutters ahead for good. He finished 1-for-4.
Mitch Walding drove in the other Williamsport run and went 1-for-4. Larry Greene finished 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
Williamsport took the lead in the second inning. With Greene at second base, Walding sent a line drive single into center field to plate the first run of the game.
Later in the inning, manager Andy Tracy got ejected by J.J. Bilinski after arguing an out call at third base. Hitting coach Rafael Delima assumed his duties the rest of the way.
Mahoning Valley tied the game in the second when Perez balked home Joseph Wendle. With two runners on and one out, the Cutters turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the threat.
Serritella's homer proved to be the difference as the Cutters improved to 6-4 on the season. They remain one game out of first in the division.
Williamsport starts a series at Auburn tomorrow night. First pitch against the Doubledays is at 7:05. Every Cutters game can be heard on ESPN Radio 104.1 FM, ESPN 1050 AM, or online at crosscutters.com.
