KEARNEY – The Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League selected goaltenders Matt Lundin and Richard Bachman with their first two picks in the league's 2005 entry draft held Thursday. Lundin (pronounced Lun-deen) was the seventh player chosen in the first round, while Bachman was taken in the second round with the 18th overall pick.

Lundin, who spent the 2004-05 season at the Maine University, played in nine games for the Black Bears allowing five goals and a save percentage of 92.8.

Prior to attending Maine, Lundin was at Apple Valley High School in 2003-04 where he was team captain during his senior season. He played 27 games and had a 2.26 goals against average while stopping 94 percent of the shots he faced. He won numerous individual honors including the Frank Brimsek Award given to the top senior goaltender in the state of Minnesota. He was also on the Associated Press' All-State first team.

Bachman spent this past season playing for the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass.

The Storm also made two trades on draft day. The Storm sent forward Cody Chupp to Waterloo in exchange for a second round choice in the 2006 draft. In a second trade, defenseman Jeff Carlson was sent to Cedar Rapids for a fourth round pick in 2006.
