Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

JUPITER, Fla. - Joe Cronin and Caleb Hamilton hit two big home runs, but Palm Beach used a four-run eighth inning rally to beat the Miracle, 7-6, on Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

With the Miracle down 3-0 and two out in the top of the seventh, Cronin belted a two-run homer to left to put Fort Myers on the board. Then, in the eighth, Hamilton also hit a two-run blast with two out and the Miracle had their first lead.

Dylan Carlson provided the big blow in the eighth inning with a bases clearing triple. It also came with two out. Danny Hudzina followed with an RBI single, which ended up being the difference in the game.

The Miracle did not go away quietly in the ninth. Brandon Lopez led off with a single and Luis Arraez followed with a double. Two batters later, Travis Blankenhorn brought home a run with a sacrifice fly. Jaylin Davis then delivered an RBI single, but Lewin Diaz flied out to deep center to end the game.

Junior Fernandez recorded the final out to pick up his second save. Will Latcham (2-2) gave up the home run to Hamilton and blew the save, but was credited with the win. Ryan Mason (5-3) suffered the loss for the Miracle. Palm Beach used four relief pitchers in the final two innings.

Griffin Jax started for the Miracle and tossed six strong innings. The right-hander allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits, walked two, and struck out five.

The four-game series concludes on Thursday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Left-hander Charlie Barnes (1-4) will start for the Miracle against right-hander Casey Meisner (3-1). First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
