Tulsa Oilers News Release
Tulsa-There's a saying that goes "You never learn a trade thoroughly until you learn the tricks of the trade." If that's the case, the Tulsa Oilers are showing off their knowledge courtesy of a trade, today swapping the rights of goaltender Evan Lindsay to Rio Grande Valley for forward Joe Guenther and futures.
Guenther has spent two seasons in the Central Hockey League between Indianapolis and RGV, posting 42 points (26g, 16a) last season as a Killer Bee. In 2002-03 the 6'0", 215 pounder played 55 games in the East Coast Hockey League with Baton Rouge and Toledo.
"It's important to keep your feelers out this time of year. There is a lot of talent in this league and we have to keep an open mind for this kind of deal to come along and not be so focused on free agents and rookies," says Tulsa Oilers Coach Butch Kaebel.
Lindsay started the season with the Oilers last year in as the number one goalie before leaving to play in Europe. He was a second round selection of the Calgary Flames in 1997.
