Triple-A All-Star Game Tonight On ESPN2

INDIANAPOLIS -- Starting pitcher Bryan Bullington, utility man Yurendell (pronounced "sure-REN-dull") de Caster and infielder Brian Bixler will represent the Indianapolis Indians in Wednesday evening's nationally-televised Triple-A All-Star Game. The 20th-annual tilt, which will be played at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, N.M., is slated to begin at 7:35 p.m.

The game, which features the International League's top players against the Pacific Coast League's best, will be televised by ESPN2. Mark Neely and Eduardo Perez will call all the action on TV.

The contest will also be carried by ESPN-950 AM through a national feed provided by Westwood One. Former Tribe broadcaster Robert Portnoy, now the Voice of the Albuquerque Isotopes, will call the play-by-play.

Bullington owns a 10-4 record, 4.04 ERA and seven quality starts in 16 starts this season. His win total leads the IL and ties for ninth in all of Minor League Baseball.

The 26-year-old was born in Indianapolis and spent most of his childhood in Madison, Ind. The right-hander went on to play collegiately at Ball State University before being selected by the Pirates as the first overall pick in the 2002 draft.

De Caster ranks among the league leaders in on-base percentage (9th - .393) and walks (T-10th - 43). He also owns a .287 batting average with four home runs and 33 RBI in 75 Triple-A contests this year.

The 27-year-old, a native of Curacao in the Netherlands, Antilles, signed his first pro contract in 1997. He came over to the Pirates organization in the 2000 Rule 5 draft.

Bixler places among the league leaders in triples (1st - 9), runs (5th - 55), stolen bases (5th - 20) and on-base percentage (T-6th - .394). He also owns a .297 batting average with four home runs and 33 RBI in 81 Triple-A games this season.

The 24-year-old, a native of Sandusky, Ohio, played collegiately at Eastern Michigan University before being selected by the Pirates in the second round of the 2004 draft.

The Indians open an eight-game homestand on Monday when Scranton/Wilkes-Barre comes to Victory Field for a 7 p.m. contest. Hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, Cracker Jack and potato chips will be available for just $1 each.
