Tri-City Takes over 1st Place in the USHL in Overtime Win.

Youngstown, OH. - The Tri-City Storm have risen to the top of the USHL standings after defeating the Youngstown Phantoms 2-1 in overtime on Saturday night. Sam Hentges scored the game winning goal in overtime for the Storm, it was his Sam Hentges 8th of the season and secured the victory for the Storm.

After falling behind by one goal in the first period, Sam Hentges tied the game on the power play for the Storm in the 2nd period. Hentges netted his 7th of the year with the lone assist going to Tyler Ward at the 7:03 mark of the period. A scoreless third period led the two teams into a 3 on 3 overtime period.

Only 18 seconds into overtime, Sam Hentges scored his 2nd goal of the game and his 8th of the season. The assist was provided by team assist leader Bryan Yoon and the Storm skated away with 4 points on the weekend. The team recorded its first sweep of a team since Madison in early December.

Jake Barczewski notched his 7th win of the season in the victory. Barczewski stopped 19 of 20 Phantoms shots in the win.

Tri-City (21-8-1-1) now leads the USHL standings with 42 points on the year. The Storm matchup against Central Illinois in Kearney on Friday night.
