Trena Peel joins Force

The Philadelphia Force have announced the signing of outfielder Trena Peel for the 2007 season.

Peel spent the last three years in the NPF, most recently with the Chicago Bandits where she was second on the team in runs scored (18) and at-bats (103). Prior to that, she played for the New York Juggernaut and the Akron Racers and earned NFP All-Star honors in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, she led the Juggernaut in runs scored (23), triples (4), walks (22), stolen bases (16), and slugging percentage (.348). In 2004, she finished her rookie season leading the Racers and the league with five homeruns, three triples, and 27 RBIs while stealing a NPF-high 27 bases.

She is currently the assistant coach at the University of Maryland. She serves as pitching, outfield coach, and assists with recruiting duties.

Peel was a 1999 USA Junior Olympic Softball Team member and played on the 2001 USA National Red Team. The Louisiana State University alumnus was also selected to the USA Elite Team in 2002 and 2003.

A native of Aurora, CO, Peel served as an assistant coach at George Washington University during the 2004 season, where she instructed outfielders, pitchers, hitting, and also coached first base during games. She also served as the recruiting coordinator, academic contact, and strength and conditioning coach with GWU.

Peel played at LSU from 1999-2002, where she earned NFCA Second-Team All-American accolades and was a semifinalist for USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year as a senior. She was named SEC Athlete of the Year in 2002 and was also a three-time All-SEC honoree, twice selected to the All-South Regional Team. She was a 2002 SEC All-Tournament selection and a 2001 NCAA Region 3 All-Tournament team member. As a Tiger, Peel notched a .323 batting average with 269 hits, 45 doubles and 27 triples which ranks first in LSU history. As a junior, Peel led the nation in triples per game and broke the LSU and SEC single-season triples record while ranking fourth in NCAA history with 14.
