Tremendous Start for IFL 2006

Corpus Christi, TX: All six Intense Football League teams saw action this past weekend as the league made it's 2006 debut in grand fashion with the home team claiming victory before large crowds in all three contests.

In a battle of first-year teams. The Laredo Lobos traveled to Belton to face the CenTex Barracudas in a nail bitter that was decided in the closing minutes as Centex defeated Laredo by a score of 57-50. Over 5,000 new IFL fans witnessed the first-ever game in Central Texas.

The Louisiana Swashbucklers hosted the Corpus Christi Hammerheads in Lake Charles. The two franchises became quick rivals in 2005 and continued that spirit in Saturday's contest as the Swashbucklers edged out the Hammerheads by a score of 63-60.

Odessa hosted San Angelo in an exhibition game with the Stampede Express falling to the 2005 undefeated Roughnecks by a score of 37-18. 4,781 fans enjoyed the game even though it will not count in the IFL standings.

Week two will again includes three games including Odessa traveling to Corpus Christi on Friday and San Angelo hosting CenTex, and Laredo traveling to Louisiana on Saturday.
