Macon Trax News Release
Second Straight Three Game Week: The Macon Trax will play on three consecutive nights for the second straight week. The Trax are home against the Knoxville Ice Bears Thursday, play at Knoxville on Friday, and host the St. Petersburg parrots on Saturday. All three games start at 7:30 p.m. with Thursday's and Saturday's games being played at the Macon Centreplex.
Once In A Blue Moon: Three time World Series champion John "Blue Moon" Odom, who pitched for the Oakland Athletics on their 1972, 1973 and 1974 championship teams will be on hand Saturday night to take part in the ceremonial face-off prior to the Trax game with St. Petersburg. Fans will be able to visit with Blue Moon during the evening.
Happy Opener: The Trax got the season off on the right skate with a 3-2 win over the Jacksonville Barracudas on Thursday night. Trevor Secundiak made league history by scoring the first goal in ACHL history. But then Jason Keenan made Trax history by scoring not only first goal, but the first two goals for Macon. Tom Stewart had the first game winning goal for the Trax.
Close Calls: The Trax dropped two one goal decisions last week, losing to St. Petersburg 5-4 in overtime on Friday night and losing to Cape Fear 3-2 on Saturday night.
Everyone Into The Act: The Trax have shown a balanced scoring attack. Luke Murphy and Corey Smith top the team scoring chart, each with five points. But in the first three games, 10 players have at least one point.
Hockey Happy Hour: The Trax start their weekly coaches radio show, "The Hockey Happy Hour" October 21st at 6 p.m., broadcast live from Jock's & Jill's restaurant. Fans can join the show in person or tune in on the Trax radio network, WLCG AM 1280; WRNC AM 1670; WVMG AM 14404; and WVMG 96.7 FM.
Pract-ice: The Trax practice at the Centreplex every morning at 10 a.m.
