Macon Trax News Release

[Jacksonville, Fla.]—The WHA2 All Stars won in overtime 7-6 against the Jacksonville Barracudas in front of more than 3,500 hockey fans. Trax Assistant Captain, Steve Zoryk was named Most Valuable Player for the game.

A total of three players from the Trax team were a part of this honorable event. Defenseman Art Mnatsakanov, and Trax forwards, David Deeves and Steve Zoryk competed together on the ice in Jacksonville.

Most of the night Zoryk played defense which is an unfamiliar position to him, instead of his usual position as a Forward. The change in position resulted in great success for this Canadian Native completing the night with a total of two goals and three assists.

Zoryk said, “It is a great honor to be named MVP of this year’s All Star Game. It makes it a little bit easier when I am surrounded by such great players. It is a fun game to be a part of.”

Zoryk not only shined in the All Star Game but is also doing well in the regular season. He is tied for second in the WHA2 in goals with a total of 21 this season. He also stands strong in seventh place in the WHA2 with 39 points.

The Trax return to home ice for a four game home stand. The home stand will begin on Thursday against the Miami Manatees. The Trax will feature “Thirsty Thursday” with two for one drink specials. On Friday night, “Army Night”, the Trax will play against the Manatees again. Finally, Saturday night is our “Guaranteed Win Night” against the Alabama Slammers. All of these games will begin with a 7:35p.m. puck drop at the Macon Centreplex. For ticket information contact the Trax ticket office at 478-742-4849.
