St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, June 7, 2009 - The following is the daily report from the Alouettes' training camp for Day 1.

A first look at the 2009 squad

The Alouettes opened their 2009 training camp under the sun in front of roughly 1,500 cheering fans outdoors at the Campus du Fort St-Jean.

Additions

The following players joined the Alouettes today:

- Canadian wide-receivers Glenn Mackay and Chad Rempel

- Import receiver David Kircus

- Import linebacker Jay Staggs

- Import cornerback De'Audre Dix

Sidelined

Jamel Richardson was out with pneumonia and is listed as day-to-day; Reggie Hunt and Mike Imoh are in camp, but have yet to undergo their medicals; Stanford Samuels has not reported to camp.

A veteran point of view...

Canadian free safety Matthieu Proulx on his first day back with the Als after working at a law firm during the off season:

"It's great to be back at camp even though it's tough on the mind and body. The best part is coming back to football after spending the winter working in another field."

According to Coach Trestman

"I'm looking forward to a big season this year. We have a lot of great returning players and the new guys will be expected to step up and make a name for themselves as well."
