Touki Toussaint Promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett in Series of Roster Moves

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves have made the following roster moves affecting the M-Braves roster prior to today's series opener against Biloxi at Trustmark Park. RHP Touki Toussaint has been transferred to Triple-A Gwinnett from Mississippi, INF Alejandro Salazar has been transferred to Mississippi from High-A Florida, and LHP Ricardo Sanchez (#15) has been activated from the DL.

Toussaint, 22, was 4-6 with a 2.93 ERA (28 ER/86 IP) and 107 strikeouts in 16 starts for the M-Braves. The Coral Springs, FL native leads the league and ranks fifth in all of Minor League Baseball in strikeouts. Toussaint ranked fifth in the Southern League in ERA, third in opponents batting average (.208) and fifth in innings pitched (86.0). His 11.20 SO/9IP ratio ranked third in the league.

Toussaint's last start on June 30 at Pensacola was his best of 2018, matching a career-high with 11 strikeouts over 7.0 shutout innings and just two hits allowed. Toussaint is the No. 11 prospect for the Atlanta Braves and was acquired by the Braves along with RHP Bronson Arroyo from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for INF Phil Gosselin on June 20, 2015. He was drafted originally by the Diamondbacks in the first round (16th overall) in 2014.

Salazar, 21, was batting .271 (57x210) with 12 runs, five doubles, a triple, one home run, 17 RBI and two SB in 57 games The Maracaibo, VZ native was added to Triple-A Gwinnett's roster from June 24-28, playing in two games, batting .286 (2x7) with a double.

The Braves signed Salazar as a non-drafted free agent on July 2, 2013.

Sanchez, 21, the Atlanta Braves No. 26 prospect makes his third M-Braves start tonight and is 0-2 with a 10.80 ERA (6 ER/5.0 IP), three strikeouts and four walks. The Valencia, VZ native was placed on the DL on April 18 (shoulder tightness) and made three rehab appearances before being activated today.

The Braves acquired Sanchez from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for RHP Nate Hyatt and INF Kyle Kubitza on January 8, 2015. The LA Angels signed him as a nondrafted free agent on July 2, 2013.

The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 24 active players and three on the DL.
