Toronto Argonauts News Release
Toronto, ON - The Toronto Argonauts will host their annual Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night on Saturday, September 28, 2019 when the team faces the Saskatchewan Roughriders at BMO Field.
Over 500 members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and their families will be in attendance on Saturday night through ticket donations from MLSE and Toronto Argonauts' corporate partners. Tickets were donated to members of the CAF and their guests from Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Trenton, CFB Borden, several CAF units stationed in Toronto and numerous CAF units stationed throughout Southern Ontario.
"It is an honour and a privilege to welcome back the Canadian Armed Forces to BMO Field during an Argos game to show our appreciation and gratitude towards what they've sacrificed and done for this country," said Bill Manning, President of the Toronto Argonauts. "Having a Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation night each season and being able to acknowledge these brave men and women is very important to our team, organization and fans."
Pre-game ceremonies will include a number of Canadian Armed Forces personnel supported moments as the team takes to the field. Saturday's ceremonial coin toss will take place with Canadian Armed Forces Colonel Ryan Deming, Commander, 8 Wing Trenton. Additionally, the evening will feature a flyover by two Griffon helicopters from 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, based out of Valcartier, Quebec.
"We thank the Toronto Argonauts Football Club for their generosity and support to the sailors, soldiers and aviators of the Canadian Armed Forces. The game promises to be a great opportunity for our members to enjoy a football game in the company of family, fellow CAF members and Canadian Football League fans," said Colonel Ryan Deming, Commander, 8 Wing Trenton.
Throughout the team's annual Canadian Armed Forces Appreciation Night, the football club will honour active and veteran CAF members with in-game elements having a distinct CAF tie-in to honour those who have served the country.
