Argos President Keith Pelley was thrilled to be selected Etobicoke's Business Person of the Year. In his remarks, he said, "I am so pleased on behalf of Toronto's winning CFL football club to receive this award. Of all the awards I have received being recognized in the community where I grew up past, present and future makes this one the most special."

"Every member business in our chamber is committed to excellence and passionate about our community," said Etobicoke Chamber of Commerce Chair Mark Towhey. "But, these awards recognize exceptional performance in seven different categories. Each of these winners has not only made the commitment to achieve excellence in everything they do, but they've lived up to that commitment every day, with every decision. That's incredibly difficult to do and they deserve our recognition for their achievements. Our community is better for their efforts."

Over 320 business and community leaders attended the Business Excellence Awards gala at the Wyndham Bristol Place Hotel on Monday night and the excitement in the room was palpable as award recipients were announced in each category. Among those attending were representatives from a short-list of finalists selected in each category.

"Each year, the quality of nominee gets higher and higher," said Roy Singh who led the panel of independent judges who assessed each nominated business. "In the end, we were able to short list a number of finalists in each category - each of which was outstanding. In almost every category, our judges had a difficult time singling out one winner. But, we're extremely confident that each of our winners tonight, represents the best of the best this year."

Since 1988, the Etobicoke Chamber of Commerce has been advancing business prosperity and building a better community through leadership. The Etobicoke Chamber is made up of businesses and community organizations that are committed to excellence and are passionate about the community of Etobicoke.
