December 9, 2020 - United Soccer League One (USL1) - South Georgia Tormenta FC News Release

STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC has signed midfielder Craig McCall to its 2021 USL League One roster, pending league and federation approval. Hailing from Glasgow, Scotland, McCall impressed with Tormenta FC 2 in 2019 and now inks his first professional contract, a one-year deal with a club option. The midfielder was invited to train with the first team due to the cancellation of the 2020 USL League Two season and gained valuable experience to bring him to the next level.

"Craig is a young player who deserves the opportunity to play professionally," TFC Head Coach Ian Cameron said. "He entered the US soccer scene in junior college, where he was successful, before making the move to Division II. Then last summer he joined our franchise at the USL League Two level where he thrived. Craig gives our team a different mental edge, and we're excited to get him on the field next year."

McCall helped Tormenta FC 2 win USL League Two's Southern Conference championship, as well as topping the Deep South Division for the second year in a row. In 14 matches and 871 minutes, the midfielder recorded one assist and five shots, scoring two goals.

The Scottish midfielder graduated from the Florida Institute of Technology in 2020 with a degree in Business Administration where he notched one goal and ten assists. Before transferring to Florida Tech, McCall was a part of the National Semifinals team with the Eastern Florida Titans and recorded seven goals and 13 assists for his collegiate side.

"I'm delighted to sign a pro contract with Tormenta," Mcall said. "Since coming in at USL League Two, I've felt a strong connection and bond with everyone associated with the club. I believe it is a place where I can grow as a player and enjoy my football. I feel that there is something special surrounding Tormenta, and I wanted to be a part of that."

McCall joins midfielders Marco Micaletto and Abuchi Obinwa, defenders Stefan Mueller and Curtis Thorn and goalkeeper Pablo Jara on Tormenta FC's 2021 League One roster. A second new addition to the team will be announced in the coming days. Fans can attend every home match in 2021 with Tormenta FC season tickets which are on sale now with affordable 12-month payment plans.
