Tormenta FC Girls Training Center Program this Saturday
STATESBORO, Ga. - South Georgia Tormenta FC has invited 29 top U17 female talents to participate in the club's first Girls Training Center Program this Saturday, Jan. 9. The group consists of both long-time academy members and high-caliber, local talent who will experience life as a pro ahead of the 2021 USL Academy Cup National Event on Memorial Day weekend.
Media is invited to attend the event at the Jennifer Ross Soccer Complex in Savannah from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Interviews will be held at 11:00 a.m. following the first training session. Through this initiative, the club looks forward to laying the groundwork for future elite female teams.
"We are very excited to be able to provide this opportunity to not only our own TFC girls but to all female players in the area," Nick Jaramillo said, who serves as both an assistant coach for Tormenta FC and the Head Coach of the USL Academy side. "This first group has shown proven success in their recent State Cup runs, and we will continue that push in their soccer careers by giving them another platform for exposure for the college and professional game. I look forward to working with the group and putting together a team that will continue to compete at the highest level in a professional environment."
Tormenta FC's first Girls Training Center Program follows the success of the club's inaugural boys program in November. Saturday will run similarly to the first event with opportunities to grow on and off the field, including training sessions in front of pro coaches and a media component of official headshots with the TFC communications team.
Tormenta FC was named a founding member of the USL Academy League's Southeast Division in October. The inaugural season of Academy League play is due to kick off in spring 2021 and will provide clubs in all three of the USL's senior divisions (USL Championship, USL League One and USL League Two) with an elite youth development and competition platform.
