JOHNSTOWN - The Johnstown Tomahawks defeated Team USA 6-2 Friday night at 1st Summit Arena.

The fast-paced action in the first period proved to bear no goals for either team as both squads skated to a scoreless first intermission.

Johnstown cracked the scoreless tie four minutes into the second period.

Mitchell Hale's shot on the power play beat USA goaltender Drew Commesso for a 1-0 Tomahawks lead. Anthony Mastromonica picked up the assist.

Twenty-seven seconds later, the Tomahawks gained a 2-0 advantage off the stick of Colin Price. His goal was assisted by Chad Merrell and Bennett Stockdale.

The Tomahawks continued their goal scoring parade ten minutes later with a Carter Dwyer power play goal that was assisted by Cameron Hebert.

Hebert scored a goal of his own 12 seconds later to give the Tomahawks a 4-1 lead. Oliver Benwell assisted.

Team USA got on the score board at the 17:46 mark of the second period with a goal from Connor Kelley.

In the third period, the Tomahawks increased their lead to 5-1 with a goal from Alex Wilkins. Dwyer and Carson Brière picked up the helpers.

Team USA added another goal at the 8:23 mark off the stick of Hunter Strand.

Stockdale set the final score at 6-2 with his goal at 10:43 of the third. Merrell and Price assisted.

The Tomahawks and Team USA continue their exhibition series Saturday, Sept. 8 at 3 p.m. at 1st Summit Arena.
