Tom Willms Named New "Voice of the Osprey"

MISSOULA, MT - Tom Willms has been named the new "Voice of the Osprey" by the Missoula Osprey Professional Baseball Club. Willms will be the official play by play announcer for all Osprey TV and Radio broadcasts during the 2019 season on both ESPN Missoula and SWX TV statewide. Willms will also assist the Osprey with public relations duties as media relations coordinator, including, assisting media with coach and player interview requests and media information creation. Willms comes to the Osprey after spending the last three seasons as the play by play voice of the Traverse City Beach Bums in the independent pro baseball Frontier League. Last season, Willms was named "Broadcaster of the Year" for the Frontier League. In addition to his baseball work, Willms is an accomplish play by play broadcaster for other sports including ice hockey, football, and basketball.

"Getting an experienced play by play broadcaster of Tom Willms quality is a major win for the Osprey and our fans," said Osprey Vice President Matt Ellis. "With our new regional television deal with SWX and our long standing relationship with ESPN Missoula for radio, it was imperative that we got a really strong broadcaster to lead us into this new era of Missoula Osprey baseball. Tom fulfills that need with his quality voice and descriptive call of the action. Fans are going to like his easy to listen to style and knowledge of the game. We are excited to welcome Tom to our team."

Willms, originally from Brentwood, NY, comes to Missoula after three years as the Director of Broadcasting and Media for the Traverse City Beach Bums of the independent Frontier League, where he was named that league's broadcaster of the year for 2018. Previously, Tom called baseball action for the Camden Riversharks and Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League, and the Trenton Generals of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League.

In addition to baseball, Tom broadcasts hockey for both Neumann University and the Philadelphia Little Flyers junior team, both in Aston, PA. He also is the broadcaster for West Chester University's football and basketball teams via the Sports Fan Base Network. In the last decade, Willms has called a multitude of sports at every level from youth to minor-pro.

Willms will call all Osprey games both at home on the road on ESPN Missoula 102.9 PM, plus lead the home game broadcasts on SWX TV. All home games will be simulcast on both SWX and ESPN Missoula. Tom will be joined in the booth at home on most games by a guest color commentator featuring SWX and ESPN personalities and local celebrities. In addition to his broadcasting duties, he will be the lead contact for media to schedule interviews with Osprey coaches and players. Tom will oversee all media game notes and roster updates. He will also assist the Osprey with content on both www.missoulaosprey.com and all Osprey social media accounts.

The Osprey open the season on Friday, June 14th in Great Falls. After a six game roadtrip to open the season, the Osprey will celebrate their Home Opener on Friday, June 21st at 7:05pm.
