FRIDAY NIGHT: The TinCaps dropped the rubber match of their series in Cedar Rapids, 4-2. Fort Wayne matched a dubious season high with 5 errors, yet starter Tom Cosgrove battled and allowed only 3 runs (1 earned) in 6 innings. But the 'Caps only had 5 hits as well and finished 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. After Cedar Rapids had taken a 1-0 lead in the second, the TinCaps tied it in the third, only for the Kernels to get an unearned run in both the fifth and sixth. Fort Wayne cut it down to 3-2 in the seventh but CR got that run back in the eighth.

HOT CAPS: The TinCaps are 12-8 in their last 20 games. During these 20 games, Fort Wayne has outscored its opponents 88-69.

EYE ON SEPTEMBER: Of the 6 Midwest League Eastern Division teams vying for a second-half playoff spot, the TinCaps currently lead the way -tied with South Bend, 1 up on Lake County and West Michigan, 2 in front of Dayton, and 7 better than Great Lakes.

PODO IS MONEY: Since making his 2018 TinCaps debut on May 18, Robbie Podorsky leads the Midwest League in hitting with a .357 average. (Next on the list is Bowling Green's Vidal Brujan at .344.) In this range, "Podo" is tied for 3rd in the MWL in stolen bases with 20, trailing only teammate Esteury Ruiz (22) and Brayan Morales of Great Lakes. Podorsky is currently on a 9-game hitting streak.

MELEAN MASHING: Kelvin Melean has hit safely through his first 5 games as a TinCap and is 8-for-17 with 4 doubles, an RBI, and 2 walks.

ROSARIO RISING: After slashing .269/.381/.322 in the first half, Jeisson Rosario has posted a line of .310/.398/.451 since the All-Star break. Rosario already has more extra-base hits in the second half (8 - 6 doubles, 2 triples) than he did in the first half (7).

NO PLACE LIKE ROAD: Jalen Washington is slashing .275/.389/.451 on the road while producing a line of .207/.298/.261 at Parkview Field. 3 of his 4 homers have come on the road.

SUWINSKI'S SECOND HALF: Jack Suwinski slashed .205/.286/.324 in the first half of the season but is at .250/.316/.462 since the All-Star break (16 G).

LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is tied for 4th in runs (56), tied for 7th in OBP (.385), and tied for 8th in walks (47)... Esteury Ruiz is 3rd in SB (32)... Robbie Podorsky is tied 9th in SB (20)... Osvaldo Hernandez is 1st in ERA (2.25)... Aaron Leasher is 7th in ERA (2.79) and 14th in SO (79)... Travis Radke is 3rd in saves (11).

ADVANCED STATS LEAGUE LEADERS: Jeisson Rosario is 9th in BB% (13%), 7th in BB/K (0.71), and 12th in LD% (22%)... Tirso Ornelas has the 7th lowest Swing & Miss% (7%)... Mason Thompson is 6th in K/9 (9.32)... Osvaldo Hernandez is 1st in HR/9 (0.12) and 2nd in FIP (2.88)... Aaron Leasher is 3rd in FIP (3.04), 8th in K/9 (9.19), 6th in K% (24%), and 3rd in HR/9 (0.23).

BULLPEN BOOMERANG: TinCaps relievers have posted a 3.04 ERA over the last 72 games since April 25. In this time, the 'pen has been led by Travis Radke, Caleb Boushley, Evan Miller, and Ben Sheckler. Through the first 19 games of the year, the bullpen had allowed 60 ER in 72.1 IP for a 7.47 ERA. In the last 69 games, the bullpen has allowed 91 ER in 269 IP.
