Tim Hortons Field to Host Premier Lacrosse League
The Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) announced Thursday the league will play regular season games at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario on August 17 and 18.
"The PLL proudly boasts a lineup of the game's best Canadian players, ranging from established legends like Brodie Merrill to up and coming stars like Josh Byrne and Joel Tinney," said Paul Rabil, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer. "I've had the pleasure of playing in major cities throughout Canada during my career and these experiences have been nothing short of spectacular. Additionally, Hamilton's proximity to Toronto and Buffalo - two established lacrosse markets - will encourage lacrosse fans throughout each region to come watch exciting, high-stakes competition, wrapped around a world-class fan experience."
Hamilton becomes the first international city announced by PLL and the 11th tour location released. PLL action comes to thirteen major North American markets over fourteen weeks this summer and fall. Locations announced so far include Boston, New York, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and San Jose. Remaining markets will be announced throughout the month leading up to Week One matchups at Gillette Stadium in Boston on June 1.
"After successfully hosting multiple international soccer and rugby matches, concerts and other unique events at Tim Hortons Field, we're excited to partner with the PLL to bring the first professional lacrosse games to this great facility," said Matt Afinec, President and C.O.O. of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC. "We pride ourselves in delivering a best-in-class live viewing experience at Tim Hortons Field and look forward to hosting lacrosse fans for these exciting games in August."
Tickets will go on sale at a later date to be announced and will be available online at www.premierlacrosseleague.com and ticats.ca/tim-hortons-field/.
