Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats, in partnership with Ninehouse Productions and West Town Bar & Grill, will be officially unveiling a permanent, Ticats-themed mural on Locke Street on Thursday, September 13.

"We're proud of our city's arts & culture scene, arguably one of the most vibrant and accomplished in Canada," said Matt Afinec, Tiger-Cats President and Chief Operating Officer. "We see the creation of this mural as an opportunity to connect Hamiltonians through the magic of football, while showcasing the work of one of Hamilton's most sought-after artists."

The 1,050 square foot mural, which took four weeks to complete, is the brainchild of award-winning Hamiltonian muralist Tim Ninehouse, who has completed 15 murals across the city since 1997. Ninehouse, originally from Holland, grew up in the East End of Hamilton and attended Tiger-Cats games as a child.

"The mural depicts both the ambition and the achievements of the City of Hamilton," said Ninehouse. "Hard work has been the driving force in Hamilton's renaissance and the Tiger-Cats symbolize that mantra. Hamilton's potential as a community is limitless."

The mural, which depicts a Ticats player and a tiger overlooking the city's core from the escarpment, is painted on the south-facing exterior brick wall of Locke St. institution, West Town Bar & Grill.

"West Town has been a popular location for both Tiger-Cats players and fans for decades," said West Town owner Brandon Stanicak. "We're proud of our city and honoured to have a piece of art of this magnitude on the side of our restaurant."

Ninehouse will put the finishing touches on the mural this Thursday, September 13 at 1 p.m. Ticats fans and media are invited to West Town to witness the completion in person and pose for photos with Hamilton's newest mural.

If you own a business or have a blank wall and are interested in partnering in future Ticats community art initiatives, we want to hear from you! Please email abruno@ticats.ca with a photo of your establishment.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats take on the Calgary Stampeders in the Hall of Fame game this Saturday, September 15 at 4 p.m. at Tim Hortons Field. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 905-547-2287, emailing tickets@ticats.ca or visiting ticats.ca/tickets.
