(Central Islip, N.Y., Mar. 19, 2011) - On a crisp Saturday morning under blue skies, hundreds of fans lined up to purchase Ducks tickets for the 2011 season. At the box office, more than 5,000 tickets were purchased by loyal Ducks fans eagerly awaiting the start of the team's 12th season on Long Island.
"Today is the start of a new season," says Ducks president/general manager Michael Pfaff. "The great support from fans each year and the excitement they bring to this day reminds us why we love what we do here, and how excited we are to start playing baseball again."
Fans standing in line on Saturday morning were treated to a carnival-like atmosphere at Bethpage Ballpark, emceed by The Wiseman and Frank from B-103, which included balloon animals, face painting, complimentary refreshments, and much more. QuackerJack was on hand with members of the 2011 Ducks, including coach Bud Harrelson, manager Kevin Baez and All-Star infielder Ray Navarrete, who met fans in line and signed autographs. The first fans in line, 12-year old Ryan Kamer and his father Charlie, were awarded with a $500 gift card by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, the opportunity to be "Bat Boy for a Day" at the May 12 Ducks game vs. Southern Maryland, and a luxury suite for 20 guests that same evening.
