March 11, 2019 - Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release
EDMONTON - The Canadian Football League (CFL) held its first of three regional combines today in Edmonton, resulting in five players being invited to the CFL National Combine presented by New Era in downtown Toronto, March 22-24.
Jeshrun Antwi, Tariq LaChance and Shai Ross were extended an invitation to display their athletic abilities once again in front of CFL scouts, coaches, and management at the National CFL Combine.
Shai Ross of the University of Manitoba had a big day, showing off his speed to come out on top in several categories. His 37.5-inch vertical jump, 11'3.00" broad jump, 6.87-second three-cone drill, and 4.17-second short shuttle time were all good enough to earn first overall in those drills. The wide receiver also finished second in the 40-yard dash with a time of 4.65 seconds.
Calgary product Jeshrun Antwi earned a nod to national combine with his 4.22-second shuttle time, where he finished third overall, and his 7.19-second three-cone time where he finished fifth overall. His broad jump of 9'7.25" was first among his fellow running backs; he was second among running backs in both the 40-yard dash (4.9 seconds) and the vertical jump (30.5 inches), as well as third among running backs in the bench press, with 16 reps.
Tariq LaChance finished third overall in the broad jump, leaping 9'9.75". The University of Manitoba Bison finished second among defensive linemen in the three-cone drill with a time of 7.72 and in the shuttle with 4.66; he placed third among defensive lineman with a leap of 30 inches.
Overall, 42 players attended today's combine in Edmonton and each athlete worked out in front of scouts from all CFL Teams. Click here to view the roster and all the results from the Edmonton Regional Combine.
