Lynchburg Hillcats News Release

Lynchburg, Va. - Three players have been selected to represent the Lynchburg Hillcats at the 2018 Carolina League All-Star Game, the team announced in conjunction with the Carolina League of Professional Baseball on Monday. The 2018 Carolina League All-Star Classic presented by US Foods® will take place at Five County Stadium, the home of the Carolina Mudcats, in Zebulon, N.C. on June 19.

Hillcats players Conner Capel, Sam Hentges, and Dalbert Siri will suit up for the Northern Division's All-Star team.

Capel and Hentges pick up the first mid-season All-Star selections of their careers, while Siri is named an All-Star for the second time. The rosters were selected through a combination of voting by Carolina League managers and media.

Capel, a 21-year-old outfielder from Katy, Texas, is currently sixth in the league with a .381 on-base percentage. He leads the Hillcats with 28 RBI, nine stolen bases, and is tied for the team lead with four home runs. His .814 OPS ranks second-best in the entire Cleveland farm system. A fifth-round draft pick by the Indians in 2016 out of high school, Capel is ranked by Baseball America as the Indians' 12th-best prospect.

Hentges, a fourth-round pick by the Indians in 2014, was Lynchburg's Opening Day starter this season. The left-hander is currently 3-5 with a 3.95 ERA through 11 starts, with his 55 strikeouts leading the team. A native of Shoreview, Minn., He fanned a season-high 10 batters in a start against Frederick in April. The 21-year-old is ranked by Baseball America as the Indians' 17th-best prospect.

Siri, signed by the Indians as an international free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2014, has gone 1-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 16 outings out of the Hillcats bullpen. The 22-year-old right-hander has also notched two saves, and is averaging over one strikeout-per-inning with 28 punch outs in 19.2 frames. Dating back to April 25, Siri has allowed just two earned runs over 14 innings of work, good for a 1.29 ERA. Siri is making his second career All-Star appearance after representing the Lake County Captains in the Midwest League mid-summer classic last year.

Lynchburg's coaching staff will lead the Northern Division, after the Hillcats won the North Championship in 2017. Manager Rougie Odor, Bench Coach Grant Fink, Hitting Coach Justin Toole, Pitching Coach Tony Arnold, and Head Athletic Trainer Bobby Ruiz will all be on hand to work with the All-Stars.

The 2018 Carolina League All-Star Classic presented by US Foods® will kick off on Tuesday, June 19 at 7 p.m., preceded by a pre-game autograph session from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.milb.com/carolina-mudcats. The game will be broadcast on the TuneIn Radio app and on MiLB.TV.
