It was a fun eight weeks of watching the Alliance of American Football's short-lived season. In lieu of the league's previously scheduled championship game this weekend, here in no particular order are the top 10 plays of the Alliance of American Football season.

1. San Antonio Commanders linebacker Shaan Washington delivered a monster hit to San Diego Fleet quarterback Mike Bercovici in week one. No penalty was called.

2. Orlando Apollos quarterback Garret Gilbert catches a five-yard touchdown pass on a trick play. It was Steve Spurrier's team, after all.

3. San Diego Fleet quarterback Philip Nelson threw a pass behind his back and somehow completed it to tight end Gavin Escobar.

4. San Diego Fleet running back Ja'Quan Gardner burst through the middle for an 83-yard touchdown in the third quarter of their game against the San Antonio Commanders, the longest score in the Alliance's brief history.

5. Birmingham Iron quarterback Luis Perez delievered one of his three touchdown passes, an 83-yarder to L'Damian Washington in the second quarter, as he was being leveled by the San Diego defense.

6. Derron Smith returned an interception 87 yards for a touchdown in the San Antonio Commanders' 37-6 victory over the Atlanta Legends.

7. De'Vante Bausby stepped in front of Salt Lake quarterback Josh Woodrum's pass in the left flat and returned it untouched to push San Antonio to a 19-15 victory.

8. Memphis Express linebacker DeMarquis Gates blocked a Birmingham Iron punt and defensive back Terrell Bonds ran it back 50 yards for the touchdown. It was the first blocked punt returned for a touchdown in Alliance history.

9. Keith Reaser returned an interception 39 yards for the game-winning, touchdown against San Antonio Commanders quarterback Logan Woodside in the Apollos' 37-29 victory.

10. San Antonio Commanders Greg Ward Jr. returned a punt for a 79-yard touchdown against the Atlanta Legends

Honorable mention

At halftime of the Orlando Apollos game a dog caught a frisbee 83 yards away:
