Texas A&M, Arkansas, Texas and Baylor Headline Latest Roster Additions

With the 2016 Texas Collegiate League season a little more than a month away, the Victoria Generals continue to add to their roster with the addition of four players from top universities in the area. Lee May Gonzalez (A&M) returner, Jordan Rodriguez (Arkansas), Chance Callihan (Texas), and TJ Raguse (Baylor) will all suit up for the Generals as they take the field this Summer.

"We are extremely fortunate to continue a relationship with these fine schools and are excited to have players that can compete at the top level playing for the Generals, "stated Mike Yokum, the General Manager for the Victoria Generals. " The Summer could provide a stepping stone for these young players as they further their baseball careers."

Aggie left-handed pitcher Lee May Gonzalez will make his return to the Generals pitching staff for a second season when he takes the mound this Summer. Gonzalez made eight appearances for the Generals, 21.2 innings, a 3.32 ERA and compiled a 4-0 record with one save. Gonzalez spent one seasons at Laredo Community College prior to transferring to Texas A&M. Gonzalez was a standout at Calallen High School and as a senior, was named All-South Texas First Team and Texas Sportswriters Association All-Texas Class 5A second team at second base.

Left-handed pitcher Jordan Rodriguez, a junior for the Razorbacks, will bolster the pitching staff this summer when he takes the mound. Rodriguez has made 16 appearances (second on the team)out of the bullpen for Arkansas while compiling a 5.68 ERA with one save in 12.2 innings of work, while holding the opponent to a .205 batting average against. Rodriguez in his first season with the Razorbacks after transferring from Alvin Community College in 2015.

Longhorns right-handed pitcher Chance Callihan is currently a redshirt freshman. Callihan earned District 25-4A First Team Utility Player and Second Team All-Centex Academic All-District during his senior campaign and was the District 25-4A MVP and First Team All-Centex his junior season. Callihan also lettered in football while maintaining a 95+ GPA at Dripping Springs High School.

T.J. Raguse, a redshirt freshman outfielder from Baylor, will suit up for the Generals and hopes to continue his hot season this Summer. Raguse is currently hitting .327 (second on the team) with four doubles, 13 RBI's and 12 walks in 52 at bats this season. He is currently the team leader in on-base percentage at .453. Raguse was a standout at Georgetown High School where he was the 2013 and 2014 First-Team All-District and Team Offensive Player of the Year.

"We are excited to continue our relationship with these outstanding baseball programs and look forward to continuing that relationship for many years, "stated Michael Oros, Generals Head Coach. "Summer baseball is a great avenue for these young players to get a ton of playing time to get them ready for the Fall."

The Generals will begin their season at home on May 27 at Riverside Stadium as they take on the Texas Marshals.
